(Des Moines, IA) -- An amateur hockey team in Des Moines has a new home beginning this upcoming season. The Des Moines Buccaneers will play at the MidAmerican Energy RecPlex in West Des Moines, according to team president Nate Teut.

"We'll have enough seats to accommodate all the different levels of our season ticket holders and then some," Teut says. "The layout is a little bit different, so we'll have to make some adjustments."

The team is citing a mechanical issue as the reason for the move. But, it doesn't mean Buccaneer Arena on Hickman Road, the now-former home of the team, is closing. Teut says the building will remain open for other uses.

"The plan is, yes, to put ice into Buccaneer Arena and be able to service our tenants that we have," Teut says.

He says those tenants include figure skaters, adult leagues and youth hockey organizations. Right now, the team says this is a one-year decision.
