IOWA CITY, Iowa -- A state audit says a University of Iowa employee funneled nearly $1 million away from the school over four years.

The Iowa State Auditor's office says Brian Busch--the former Manager of the university's Department of Physics and Astronomy Machine Shop--used university resources to enrich his personal business.

The investigation was initiated after the university suspected Busch of violating the school's conflict of interest policy.

Busch was put on paid administrative leave in 2021 and fired last week.

The auditor's office says results of the audit have been turned over to law enforcement.
