(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Cedar Rapids Schools are instituting new terms for different levels of safety responses after a shots fired call near one of their schools.

Police notified staff at Metro High of shots coming from a car traveling a few blocks south of the school Thursday.

The building was placed on what's now being called Secure lockdown where students are brought indoors, and outside doors are locked while classes continue.

A Hold will secure students in a classroom for an incident happening inside of a school.

Full Lockdown status will be used if there is an active threat in one of the buildings.
