(Des Moines, IA) -- A driver in Des Moines driver suffers only minor injuries after crashing an SUV into a construction zone and ending up in a hole 20 feet deep.
The Des Moines Police Department says it happened a little after 5:45 Thursday morning at the intersection of 39th Street and University Avenue. The intersection is closed due to a storm sewer construction project. Police say the driver crashed into the construction zone and ended up driving into a 20 foot-deep hole. Emergency crews were able to rescue the driver, who suffered minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
