(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Cedar Rapids School District says renovating rather then demolishing Harrison Elementary and building a new school is the more expensive choice. But, it's what the community wants, so they're doing what they can to reduce costs including negotiating fees with the architect.

Chad Schumacher, CRSD Director of Operations tells Iowa's News Now the District will save $80,000 to 100,000 dollars on the design fees.

Renovations to Harrison are set to begin in early 2026 with completion around August 2027.
