(Omaha, NE) -- Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer is recommending the termination of an officer involved in the death of 37 year-old Cameron Ford. Schmaderer says in a statement that this is the result of an internal investigation which is separate from the criminal investigation.

"I have determined that the actions of Officer Adam Vail were in violation of our department's policies, procedures and training," the statement reads. "As such, his employment with the OPD has been recommended for termination."

Officer Vail will be able to request a hearing with the Human Resources Director, who can then agree with or oppose the chief's recommendation.

The shooting happened when Officer Vail was serving a no-knock warrant on August 28th. Earlier this month, Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine announced he would not be filing on Officer Vail.
