(Des Moines, IA) -- The search for the next Des Moines Police Chief is down to two candidates.
Current Police Chief Dana Wingert is retiring after more than 30 years in law enforcement. The city of Des Moines has announced the two finalists for the position. They include Des Moines Police Major Michael McTaggart, a veteran of the force since 2011 and Chicago Police Commander Joshua Wallace, who works within the Chicago Police Department's Bureau of Counterterrorism.
The City of Des Moines will conduct interviews next week, with the new chief expected to be named next month.
