(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Cedar Rapids will get just four of the 10 traffic cameras it requested, and Marion won't be getting any at all.

A law signed by Governor Reynolds in May requires cities to apply to the Iowa Department of Transportation for traffic cam approval.

Four Cedar Rapids cams were approved for I-380 northbound at Diagonal Drive, and southbound at J Avenue; and both directions at Williams Boulevard and 16th Avenue SW.

The state approved only 11 of 128 requested traffic cams statewide.

The city of Cedar Rapids says it will have to evaluate how the refusals will affect public safety.
