(Lincoln, NE) -- This week's U.S. Drought Monitor from the University of Nebraska shows 92% of the state either abnormally dry or in some form of drought. The report shows an expanded area of severe or D-2 drought, and an expansion of moderate or D-1 drought conditions.
Only a portion of the panhandle and southwest Nebraska are drought-free.
Douglas and Sarpy counties are both abnormally dry.
The National Weather Service is predicting dry weather over the next several days. Highs today (Thurseday) will range from 75 to 85. Breezy conditions will create another day of very high fire danger. A beautiful day Friday with highs in the mid 70s. And then it turns hot for Saturday with highs from 85 to 95. Breezy conditions will again result in very high fire danger.
