City of Omaha Public Works on Friday will install a modified pedestrian island at 24th and Oak Streets to increase safety as part of the "Vision Zero" traffic safety initiative.
More of the pedestrian medians will eventually go in along that stretch of 24th.
Mayor Jean Stothert has made the commitment for Omaha to become a "Vision Zero" city with a goal of eliminating all fatal and serious injury traffic crashes.
