(Washington, IA) -- Two men are facing charges after police say gunfire broke out during a road rage crash in Washington, Iowa.

The Washington Police Department says they responded to multiple reports of a crash with shots fired at around 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, in the 200 Block of West Madison Street and found two vehicles attached to each other leaving the crash scene eastbound on Madison Avenue.

Police say 27-year-old Aaron Kron of Riverside backed his 2016 Chevy Silverado into a 1997 Chevy Suburban and drove off, prompting 24-year-old Daegan Brown of Brighten, a passenger in the suburban, to begin firing a handgun at the Silverado.

Both vehicles eventually came to a stop just north of the intersection of East Washington and South 9th.

Both were taken to the Washington County Jail, and no injuries were reported.

Kron was arrested and charged with Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon and Brown was arrested and charged with Intimidation With a Dangerous Weapon.

Police are continuing to investigate.
