(Des Moines, IA) -- The city of Des Moines names its next Chief of Police.
Des Moines City Manager Scott Sanders announced Wednesday afternoon that Michael McTaggart will succeed Chief Dana Wingert as the Des Moines Police Department's next Chief of Police. McTaggart has been with DMPD since 1999 and has served as a homicide detective, led DMPD's investigations division, and most recently commanded the Des Moines Police Department's operations division.
Chief Dana Wingert announced his retirement earlier this year.
