(Des Moines, IA) -- Several people are turning out on the steps of the Iowa Supreme Court to support a landowner challenging Summit Carbon Solutions contention that they have the right to survey private land for their carbon capture pipeline.

Dan Wahl, a Dickinson County landowner tells Iowa's News Now "it's worth fighting for, because, if we let private companies, entities without public service, start entering our ground, it opens the door for anybody."

A Hardin County landowner is appealing a district court decision to allow Summit to survey his land despite his refusal.

Iowa code says pipeline companies may survey private land to determine direction and depth of potential pipelines, but they must give 10 days notice and hold an informational meeting for the community.
