(Aledo, IL) -- Mercer County High School's football coach is apologizing for behavior that got him suspended indefinitely by the school board.
Coach Tanner Matlick told the Mercer County School Board “there was an incident two weeks ago between myself and a player where I acted on emotion. I knew instantly that my behavior was out of line.” Matlick said, “I know that I was in the wrong, and that is the one thing, out of everything, if I could go back, I would handle much differently.”
The board says the suspension was the result of several incidents.
The Golden Eagles will play their game in Princeton tonight with an interim coach.
