(Des Moines, IA) -- A handgun seized during a shooting investigation Wednesday brings the total guns seized in Des Moines so far this year to 489.
The Des Moines Police Department says that around 75% were used in crimes.
They say the rest were found or abandoned, recovered during other investigations, or stored for safe keeping.
Of the guns used in crimes, police say about 30% of them were possessed by convicted felons or people ineligible to possess a firearm.
