(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- A Cedar Rapids man is charged after trying to strangle his mother with the American flag.
Police say 39 year-old Adam Sotzen showed up at his mother's Oak Hill Drive home last week intoxicated and upset about a past dispute.
Prosecutors say he rolled a three-by-five American flag into a rope and put it around her neck telling her to die. Her boyfriend intervened.
Sotzen is charged with assault, harrassment, and DUI.
