Eastern Iowa Railways Get Grants For Infrastructure Improvements

(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Two eastern Iowa railways are getting federal grants to improve their infrastructure.

The money is part of nearly 100-million dollars in grant money for the state of Iowa through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to improve the state's railroads.

Cedar Rapids & Iowa City Railway is getting more than $19-million to replace 56 miles of rail ties.

Iowa Interstate Railroad is getting nearly $30-million to build new bridges that can support wind turbine components.
