(Omaha, NE) -- Omaha Public Power District is warning of another scam.
Omaha Public Power District received a report of a man who said he was an employee of a solar installation company, falsely representing the company as a partner with OPPD.
The man told an OPPD customer that he was there to help his company sign up customers for OPPD’s Smart Thermostat Program. He said he was under contract with OPPD to do this work.
OPPD does not contract out this type of work.
OPPD does offer a professional installation rebate of $75 to residential customers who participate in the OPPD’s Smart Thermostat Program and have a professional install their smart thermostat.
Customers can use the contractor of their choice to have this work done. You can review the listing of licensed HVAC contractors from the Heating & Cooling Contractors Association of Omaha here.
Customers who have any questions about the Smart Thermostat Program or about anyone representing themselves as an OPPD partner or contractor should call OPPD at 402-536-4131 in the Omaha calling area or 877-536-4131 outside of the Omaha area.
