(Undated) -- Recent rains have improved Iowa's drought picture. This week's U-S Drought Monitor shows improvement statewide. Nearly all of Iowa (94%) remains in near-drought or drought, but the severity has eased. Part of northwest Iowa (13%) remains severe drought. The rest of the state is either in moderate drought or is abnormally dry. A part of south central Iowa is now drought-free. The next chance for rain is this Saturday.
