(Burwell, NE) -- Another Nebraska high school is cancelling a varsity sports season. Burwell will not play varsity boys basketball this year, but they will have a junior varsity team. In a statement, the school cites participation numbers.
"Burwell public schools strives to offer the best possible student experience in all aspects of the education we offer...We are committed to growing the Burwell boys basketball program through our skill development and engaging the youth in new ways."
It's the fifth school in the state to cancel a varsity season this school year.
