(Bettendorf, IA) -- A man from LeClaire is charged with attempted murder after police say he intentionally hit someone with his car
Bettendorf Police say 19 year-old Holden Van Smith texted the victim to meet at the BettPlex for a fight Sunday morning.
Police say when he arrived, Smith struck the victim with his car then fled on foot.
Officers say they also found a machete in Smith's car.
Reports say the victim was flown to Peoria for brain surgery as a result of injuries suffered when he was struck.
