The Omaha Police Department is among the agencies that will be part of a national and statewide seatbelt enforcement operation that begins this Saturday and runs through Thanksgiving weekend.
OPD says this high visibility enforcement campaign will be focusing on occupant restraint violations, in addition to other moving violations.
Much of the enforcement in this campaign will take place over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend as the Thanksgiving-Christmas-New Year's holiday travel season begins.
Law enforcement and safety experts say lack of seatbelt use continues to be a leading factor in the city and state's fatal crashes.
