(Des Moines, IA) -- Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate and Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird are suing the Biden Administration over its refusal to release information about noncitizens on voter rolls.
"Access to the SAVED list, citizenship verification, already completed by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, and the ability to verify using social security numbers, will make the process so much more efficient, and will also provide another important tool in our toolbox to safeguard our elections process," Pate said as part of a press release on Tuesday.
The lawsuit claims there are hundreds of noncitizens on Iowa voter rolls, but the federal government will not release the names.
"My role as Secretary of State requires a balance between participation and integrity," Pate said, "we've identified solutions that will allow us to verify voter eligibility and registration, not after they've cast a ballot."
The Iowa Attorney General's office has been in charge of prosecuting violators, including a 35-year-old man from Graettinger, was arrested last month for two counts of election misconduct.
“I am suing for the Biden-Harris Administration to finally release the election integrity data that it has been hiding from Iowa,” Attorney General Bird said as part of the release. “The Biden-Harris Administration knows who the hundreds of noncitizens are on our voter rolls and has repeatedly refused to tell us who they are. But the law is clear: voters must be American citizens.”
The suit demands the state have access to data on identified noncitizens on the State's voter rolls. You can read the full lawsuit HERE.
