The Nebraska State Patrol has a final "box score" on another season-long effort to keep fans safe going to and from Nebraska football home games.
As they have for decades, some troopers spent gamedays patrolling roadways, monitoring from the air, and assisting with security in and around Nebraska Memorial Stadium.
The Patrol says on gamedays this season, troopers made 54 arrests for driving under the influence and issued 456 citations for speeding, 16 for driving under suspension, 19 for open alcohol container violations, 12 for no seat belt, and eight for improper child restraint.
Troopers also assisted 219 motorists in need of help.
The effort was made possible thanks in part to grant funding from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office.
