Three Eastern Iowa Men Identified As Mississippi River Drowning Victims

(Undated) -- The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is releasing the names of three eastern Iowa men who drowned Sunday in the Mississippi River. The DNR says 30-year-old Mitchell Thomson of Stanwood, 40-year-old Nicholas Thomson of Tipton, and 61-year-old Kirk Stout Sr of Marion had been fishing below Lock and Dam No. 12 in Bellevue Sunday when their boat capsized beneath the dam, in a restricted area.

Despite lifesaving measures all occupants drowned. The incident continues to be investigated.
