Des Moines Police Investigating Malnourished Dog Found On Southeast Side

(Des Moines, IA) -- Des Moines Police are asking for the public's help in an animal cruelty case. Police say at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10th, a dog was brought to the City's Animal Services facility on Harriett Street, after being found abandoned near the SE 14th Street railroad viaduct.

Police say the male bulldog's body (except for his head) was in a plastic trash bag, which was secured closed with tape. The person who reported finding the dog told police he noticed it while driving and saw the trash bag moving.

The dog, which was severely malnourished remains under the care of veterinary staff.
