(Des Moines, IA) -- The housing market in Des Moines is showing positive signs heading into the summer.
The Des Moines Area Association of REALTORS says there were a number of positive indicators about the local housing market in April. There were 3,813 homes on the market in April, a 23%t increase from April of last year, and a 9% increase compared to March of this year. Median sales price, inventory, and availability all increased compared to April of 2024.The number of days on the market rose slightly in April of this year compared to last year, up to 66 compared to last year's 58, however that is a decline from March of this year's average of 72 days on the market.
The median sales price in the Des Moines metro is at $296,500 as of April of this year.
