(Des Moines, IA) -- The Des Moines Metropolitan Wastewater Reclamation Authority and the City of Des Moines complete a years-long project.
The WRA and the City of Des Moines eliminated with final combined sewer overflow this week as manded by the State of Iowa and Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The contruction project involved hundreds of millions of dollars in construction and contract work throughout the Des Moines metro.
The project installed new sanitary sewer lines that direct wastewater to treatment plants before being discharged into the Des Moines River.
