West Des Moines Police Charge Man with Making Threat of Terrorism

(West Des Moines, IA) -- The West Des Moines Police Department is charging a man with making a threat of terrorism.

Police say a man called Westcom dispatch during the West Des Moines Independence Day Parade a little after 7pm on July 3rd threatening to drive into the parade, hitting civilians and police officers. An investigation into the call identified Ascher Urquart-McDonald as the man suspected of placing the call. Police obtained an arrest warrant for Urquhart-McDonald, who was taken into custody without incident.

No acts of violence were committed at the West Des Moines Independence Day parade.
