Central Iowa Water Works Ends Watering Ban

(Des Moines, IA ) -- Central Iowa Water Works is ending its watering ban put into place in June because of high levels of nitrates in the Raccoon and Des Moines Rivers.

However, the utility is urging residents to voluntarily reduce their outdoor watering by 25-percent. Local governments and school districts are also able to resume watering.

Water Works is recommending residents water three-times a week, with even numbered addresses on Sunday, Wednesday, Friday and odd numbered addresses on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday.

The utility is asking that no watering be done on Mondays.
