Central Iowa Water Works Customers Can Resume Normal Watering Practices

(Des Moines, IA ) -- All Central Iowa Water Works customers have been given the all-clear to resume normal watering practices.

Last week, the utility had asked for a voluntary reduction of 25-percent of water use but has since withdrawn that request.

Executive Director Tami Madsen says Water Works remains confident that the system can handle the increased demand in water usage and comply with safe water standards.

Central Iowa Water Works imposed its first-ever ban on lawn watering in June and July in order to combat higher nitrate concentrations in the Des Moines and Raccoon Rivers.
