Sarpy County Recreation Area Opens

The Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District and the City of Gretna have opened the Forest City Recreation Area, Sarpy County’s latest flood reduction reservoir and recreation area in the Papillion Creek Watershed.

Forest City Recreation Area, in Gretna near 204th and Schram Road, is a 15-acre flood reduction reservoir designed to help protect the City of Gretna and surrounding communities from floodwaters.

It has 80 acres of parkland, and the paddle craft-only lake offers a 1.7-mile loop trail, accessible and traditional kayak and canoe launches, an accessible fishing pier, and picnic areas.
