(Des Moines, IA) -- Hundreds of free hams will be given away Wednesday through Hy-Vee and Hormel's Hams for the Holidays initiative.
Hy-Vee employees and local first responders will distribute 300 Hormel hams Wednesday at the Iowa State Fairgrounds while supplies last. Those wishing to receive a ham are asked to enter the state fairgrounds at Gate 2. The event starts at noon and will last until 2pm or until all the hams are given away.
Hams for the Holidays is a partnership between Hormel and Hy-Vee to combat food insecurity and is now in its 8th year. The event at the Iowa State Fairgrounds is one of 20 events at locations across Hy-Vee's nine state region. Hy-Vee and Hormel's goal is to give away 5,000 hams this holiday season.
The Iowa State Fairgrounds is located at 3000 E Grand Avenue in Des Moines.
