(Iowa) -- An Iowa District Court finds an Omaha man liable in a scam involving his two companies.
The Polk County District Court found Travis Broughton and his two Omaha-based companies, Omaha Stem Cells, LLC., and Regenerative and Anti-Aging Institutes of Omaha, LLC., liable for nearly $1 million dollars for marketing and selling unproven umbilical cord stem cell injections through. The companies operated in Iowa from 2018-2020.
Broughton and the companies must fully reimburse 76 Iowans who received the injections in the total amount of $810,477 and must pay the maximum penalty for all violations the court found, totaling $160,000. The court also imposed an enhanced penalty of $5,000 for each violation against an older Iowan, totaling $20,000.
Broughton and his companies are are prohibited form engaging in the same conduct again in the state of Iowa.
