(Mount Vernon, IA) -- The Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office and the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Police Department are investigating the death of a Cornell College student.
Emergency services were called to campus Thursday evening after a student was found unconscious and not breathing in a dorm room. Authorities confirmed the student was deceased upon arrival.
In a statement, the college said junior Jacob Redington unexpectedly passed away. Officials added there is no active threat to campus and they are cooperating fully with the investigation.
Most students are off campus for winter break through January 10.
