Arrest In Omaha Sword Assault

Omaha Police identify the suspect arrested in connection with a late Sunday afternoon assault police say involved a sword.

OPD says 23-year-old Colin Haynes was booked at Douglas County Corrections on suspicion of 2nd-degree assault, use of a weapon to commit a felony, and possession of a weapon by a prohibited person.

Officers went to a business at 47th and Hamilton Streets just after 4 p.m. Sunday and found a 30-year-old man suffering from a puncture wound.

Omaha Fire Paramedics took the man to a hospital for treatment of a non-life -threatening injury.

Investigators determined the assault was at 40th and Hamilton Streets, and the victim suffered a wound from a sword.
