The Iowa Department of Public Safety is releasing more details about a disturbance outside the Scott County Courthouse Wednesday, in which a bailiff fired his weapon. Authorities say 29-year-old Adam Lefrentz of Davenport was non-compliant, and Bailiff Timothy Hutcheson fired his gun. Lefrentz was not hit. A second bailiff used a less lethal device, which had little effect on Lefrentz.
Hutcheson remains on paid leave, pending the investigation.
Earlier reports indicated Lefrentz had a blunt object and was making threats outside the courthouse. He was taken into custody after a short foot chase.

DAVENPORT, Iowa- BaIiffs at the Scott County Courthouse in Davenport had a tense situation around 9:30 this (Wednesday) morning. A man with a blunt object, reportedly started making threats outside the courthouse.
The Scott County Sheriff's Office says the situation escalated, and two bailiffs and a Davenport Police officer responded. One bailiff used a less lethal firearm, a second bailiff discharged a weapon, then they chased the person a couple of blocks, before taking them into custody. A bailiff and the subject were taken to a Davenport hospital to be checked out. The bailiff is on paid leave, pending the outcome of an investigation by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
The names of those involved have not been released.
