Cycling Teen Raises Money for Fallen Officers' Families

A California teenager is spending his summer cycling down the coast to raise money for fallen officer's families.

Travis Risley, the son of a Napa police officer has traveled more than 1,100 miles in 15 days.

He started his trip with his father on July 7th and within a few days, he says he's been recognized as “the kid from the news.”

The 16 year old says he started this trip because he's seen how negatively the public views law enforcement.

“Seeing that I feel like they’re just people and no one really realizes that. Most of them are great people and they’re just out there to do their job.”

Travis had an initial goal of $10,000 for the California Peace Officer Memorial Foundation and met it more than one week in.

So far, he's raised close to $20,000 for the foundation.

He's also had the opportunity to meet and speak with several families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty.
