Des Moines Police are investigating a fatal drive by shooting in the 1800 block of Oakland Avenue.
Officers were called shortly after 3 o'clock this (Friday) afternoon, after a report of multiple shots fired, they arrived and found a man who had been shot. He was taken to Mercy Medical Center where he died.
Des Moines Police sergeant Paul Parezik says witnesses in the neighborhood gave officers suspect and suspect vehicle information. He says at approximately 3:12 p.m., Des Moines Police Department patrol officers spotted a vehicle matching the description,there was a short chase, and the suspect vehicle crashed in the 4100 block of 7th Place.
Police say two suspects ran from the crashed vehicle. Police set up a perimeter, and a police dog was brought in.
One suspect was in custody 15 minutes later. Police are interviewing two suspects.
One firearm was found near the crash.
