Hear Governor Reynolds Testimony at Biofuels Public Meeting

A Corn Belt governor says the proposed blending requirements under the Renewable Fuel Standard are good, but could be better.  Speaking at the public hearing on the EPA’s 2018 Renewable Volume Obligation proposals, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds says the conventional RVO at 15 billion gallons is a great step, but the EPA could do more to support advanced biofuels and biodiesel.  In their proposal, the EPA set the biomass-based diesel RVO for 2019 at 2.1 billion gallons. The National Biodiesel Board is pushing for a 650 million gallon increase to a 2 point 75 billion gallon RVO.  Speaking to reporters at the event, Reynolds said if given the opportunity, biofuels producers can meet increased volume requirements:

Reynolds says she’s been in conversation with EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt on the issue:

The public comment period for the proposed RVOs closes August 31st if you would like to weigh in.
