Authorities are releasing more details about a fatal crash north of Marshalltown, Thursday just after 8am.
Police say Waleed Parvez of Waterloo was southbound on Highway 14, at Sanford Avenue, and tried to pass a trailer, when a car appeared in the northbound lane.
The vehicles attempted to move to the shoulder to avoid a collision, but Parvez' lost control and struck the trailer, causing it to jackknife and roll.
Four people in the vehicle towing the trailer, were taken to the hospital, including Majorie Phillips of Gladbrook, who died.
Charges are pending.
