Iowa study: anesthesia and sedation could hurt baby brains

A new study by the University of Iowa shows general anesthesia and surgery in babies under a year old could have an effect on brain development.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued warnings this spring advising that lengthy or multiple uses of general anesthesia and sedation in children under 3 could affect brain development.
