Ames, Iowa family gives ISU Ag College $1 million

Iowa State University's College of Ag and Life Sciences is getting a one million dollar gift, from the Underwood Family Foundation of Ames.

ISU says the gift will support a new lecturer position, develop new entrepreneurial and agri-business courses, and set up academic workshops.

“Changing students’ experiences and their lives is our plan,” said Roger Underwood, director of the Underwood Family Foundation.

“We are so supportive of Iowa State’s agricultural business and agricultural entrepreneurship programs. Our goal is to help ensure they remain the best in the world. The support we provide will bolster programming, teaching and student experiences and, as a result, we believe it will help change agriculture in Iowa.”

The gift will help provide leading-edge experiences for students studying agricultural business and agricultural entrepreneurship.

“Thanks to this generous gift from the Underwood family, we will be able to magnify the impact of two of our college’s most respected and successful programs,” said Wendy Wintersteen, endowed dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

“This additional funding will help us provide more hands-on experiences, networking and integrated learning opportunities for our students.”

The gift is part of ISU's 1.1 (B) billion dollar fundraising campaign.
