Preparations already underway for the NCAA Men's BB in Des Moines!

Chris Connolly of the Iowa Events Center joined us in the studio this morning shortly after the 8:30 news. Spectra by Comcast Spectacor, which provides venue management, partnerships and food services and hospitality to the Iowa Events Center, presented the Polk County Board of Supervisors with a check in the amount of $1,905,902, representing profits generated from operating the Iowa Events Center during the fiscal year 2016-17!  There were 497 events booked at the Iowa Events Center attracting 1,220,190 customers!  Coming in April 2018, the new Hilton Des Moines Downtown Hotel will add additional infrastructure that meeting planners are looking for.  They are already planning for the 2019 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball First and Second Rounds.  For the entire interview with Chris, click below...

We also spoke with Deb of the DeSoto, Iowa, AHeinz57 Pet Rescue & Transport.  They are currently in Texas and are bringing pet food and supplies to pet shelters there.  They will then be taking a lot of the dogs that were up for adoption before the flooding back here to Iowa to be adopted.  They will be taking special care not to bring any dogs that have just been separated from their owners due to the flooding. If you wish to adopt one of these dogs, Deb said they should be back in Iowa Thursday night.

Tomorrow on Van and Bonnie, Van should be back in the "Van chair", and Mary Mendenhall-Core of Pinky Swear will be joining us after 8:30AM.  Don't forget...time is running out for you to register to win the beef, pork and lamb from the Sale of Champions at the Iowa State Fair.  Hy-Vee will be drawing for the winners on September 5th!  Register to win at www.whoradio.com and click on "contests".

Have a wonderful day!

Bonnie
