A family and a police department is mourning the death of one of their own after a weekend crash.
The Iowa State Patrol identified the victim of a crash this weekend in Jackson County as Mitchell Kelchen.
The 40-year-old Anamosa police officer was killed in a head-on crash on Highway 62 just after 7:30 Saturday morning.
The department's Facebook page features a couple of pictures of a squad car with flowers on it and the photo caption reads "RIP Mitch we will take it from here."
