Hurricane prompts spike in Iowa volunteers

The Red Cross tells WHO Radio News they've had a lot of phone calls about volunteering, after Hurricane Harvey, and have decided to plan information sessions for those interested in learning about ways to volunteer.

They're hosting some information sessions, in each of its four chapters across the state this week.

The Red Cross will outline its current disaster response, including the recovery effort in Texas which could last several months.

There's a meeting in Des Moines Thursday night at six o'clock.   Dinner is served at 5:30pm.  

Chapters in Cedar Rapids, Sioux City, and Dubuque are hosting meetings and 5:30 pm dinners, this week too.

The South and Eastern Chapter, will hold a meeting tonight, (September 5th) 6-8pm, at 6300 Rockwell Drive NE, Cedar Rapids.The North and Western Iowa Chapter will also hold a meeting tonight, 6-8pm, at 4200 War Eagle Drive, Sioux City.  

 The Northeast Iowa Chapter Wednesday, September 6th, 2017 4-6 pm, at 2400 Asbury Road, Dubuque.
