Ford Dresses Man Up as Car Seat for Self-Driving Vehicle Test

Ford teamed up with the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute to see how the public would really react to seeing a self-driving car. At first glance, it's shocking, but then came out the cameras and people gawked. However, this wasn't actually a driver-less car. Ford dressed someone up as an car seat to spoof the public, all in the name of research.

They were seeing if humans could catch on to light signals (see bar above windshield) to communicate the vehicle's intent. That's why they dressed someone up as a seat, because even eye contact is considered a signal of intent.
