MAHASKA COUNTY, IOWA - The drowning of a one-year old Sunday in a pond in rural Mahaska County appears to have been an accident, according to investigators.
The Sheriff's office says the family started CPR before emergency responders arrived, and the medics continued CPR in the ambulance.
The one-year-old boy was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
Officials say the preliminary investigation shows the child died from accidental drowning in a farm pond. There will be an autopsy.
