(Urbandale, Iowa) Urbandale Police say they've taken several reports lately about telephone scams. The caller claims a family member has been kidnapped, and cash needs to be wired to Mexico to save the person's life.
The caller also demands that the receipt from the cash transaction destroyed. Police say the scam is intended to make the victim send money right away. They say if you get a call like this from someone demanding immediate payment via a pre-paid cash card or some sort of payment, hang up and call law enforcement.
