Des Moines, Iowa man charged in double fatality crash

(Des Moines, Iowa)  A Des Moines man, has been charged with multiple traffic-related violations in a fatal crash in October on Army Post Road.

Police say 28-year-old Ryan Rench is charged with Unsafe Passing, Causing Death-two counts, and Serious Injury.

 Rench has a pending court date January 16th.

Police say Rench was driving a red dodge pick-up truck in the 36-hundred block of SE Army Post Road, at approximately 1:30 p.m. October 21st.   Witnesses told police the truck entered oncoming traffic during an attempt to pass other vehicles, and collided with a Honda S-U-V.   

Rench was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.   Fifty-six-year-old Kathryn Kinley of Des Moines who was driving the S-U-V, was killed in the crash, as well as one of her passengers, 13-year old Nariyo Lee of Des Moines.   Twelve-year-old Kaden Kinley was injured in the crash.
